PRICES & ORDERING

If you are interested in commissioning a portrait of your pet, the following information should answer most of your questions.

Choosing your photo(s)

Choose a good photo of your pet. Your pet must be in the pose you would like drawn, and your photo must be clear and sharp, especially the face. (See photography tips to help you choose the right photo for your portrait.) Please keep in mind that the quality of your portrait depends heavily on the quality of your photos. I can only draw what I see, so the better the photo, the more detailed your portrait will be. I also request additional photos of your pet for reference.

If you have a few good photos and cannot decide which one to use, I can certainly give you some advice. If you have more than one pet, in separate photos, I can put them together into one portrait.

Price

Pricing starts at $250 CAD, and depends on what type of portrait you are interested in. I will be able to give you a quote once I have some basic information from you:

  • Medium
I will need to know what medium you are interested in (graphite pencil or coloured pencil). If you are unsure, please click on each of the links for a description.

  • Size
The basic portrait sizes on white paper are 5x7, 8x10, 11x14 and 14x17; however, I will accommodate special requests if possible.

  • Pose
Would you like a portrait of the head and neck only or a full body pose? If you are looking for more detail in the face, I suggest a portrait of the head and neck.

  • Number of pets
How many pets will be in the portrait? This will also determine what size portrait you will need.

  • Background
I don’t usually add a background to a head and neck study. For a full body pose, I add some light shading on the ground, which is included in the price. There is an extra charge for a more detailed background or if props are to be added.

If you are unsure what you would like or if you are on a budget, please contact me and send me your photos and I can certainly give you some advice.

Your quote is guaranteed for one month.

Ordering

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot on my waiting list. Once you are on the waiting list, it should take about 6-8 months before your portrait is complete, but this will depend on the number of orders that I have. While you are waiting, I urge you to track your portrait’s progress on my blog and let me know if you are unhappy with any aspect of it. It is much easier to fix any problem areas if you inform me before it is complete so don't be shy about letting me know! I will not require full payment until your portrait is finished and you are completely satisfied.

Once your portrait is complete and ready for delivery, I will require the final payment, plus shipping fees (if applicable) before I am able to send your package. Please see delivery information below.

Prints and Cards

You will have the opportunity to purchase prints or greeting cards of your portrait if you wish. If you order these before I ship your original drawing, there will be no extra shipping charge since I can ship them in the same package.

Payment

PayPal is the preferred method of payment for all non-local commissions, but I will also accept money orders. For local commissions, I will accept cash, cheque or money order. Please make out all cheques and money orders to Heather Page.

Delivery

**Page's Portraits currently ships worldwide.

Your portrait will be shipped using Canada Post - XpressPost. It will be insured for the value of the portrait and includes delivery confirmation and tracking. The price of shipping will be added to your purchase price and your portrait will be mailed after I have received full payment. I can give you an estimate when you order, but I won't know the exact shipping price until the package is ready for delivery.

If you would prefer to pick up your portrait in person, we can arrange a meeting.

Care of your portrait

Once you have received your portrait, it is wise to have it framed as soon as possible. Please read over my instructions for proper care of your portrait.

Your artwork comes unframed so that you may choose a frame that matches your own individual style.

Copyright

As the artist I retain full rights to all of my artwork, including reproduction copyright. Commissioned artwork may not be reproduced or used for financial gain without my written permission. As a courtesy to my clients, I will not use a portrait for prints or licensing unless I have the owner's permission. I reserve the right to use my artwork for promotional purposes. If you would prefer that I do not display your portrait on my website, I will need a written request.

If, for any reason, the client decides not to purchase the finished, commissioned piece, I reserve the right to reproduce and sell the original artwork.

Please contact me if you would like a quote or if you have any questions. By inquiring, you are under no obligations and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
